 We are excited to announce that Daniel Morgan, the man behind Morgan’s library, will be our guest speaker for the OOUG  Meeting.

He is currently the Principal Advisor at Sirius Meta7, having started my IT career in the early 1970s with Fortran IV on mainframes, spent more than a decade writing COBOL, and moved into relational databases in the 1980s focusing primarily on the Oracle database.

He is a retired Oracle instructor from the University of Washington, a member of the executive boards for the Vancouver and Victoria Oracle Users Groups in Canada, a member of NYOUG, the co-founder of the International GoldenGate Oracle Users Group along with several other board memberships. His website, Morgan’s library(http://www.morganslibrary.org) is a wealth of information on Oracle databases technologies. Mr. Morgan is a regular contributor at Oracle conferences and forums around the world such as  OpenWorld, Collaborate, ODTUG Kaleidoscope, IOUC International Leadership Conference and others.

Kevin D. Smith has over  twenty years business and technical experience in Information Technology encompassing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Application and System Integration for large implementations across multiple platforms and operating systems, Technical Project Management, Team Building and Mentoring, Business Analysis, System Analysis, Software and System Design, and prototyping. A few of his specializations are Oracle GoldenGate 10g & 11g Certified Implementation Specialist and Senior GoldenGate Certified Associate, Data and transactional replication

Annual individual membership, $40 per person, otherwise it is $25 per meeting.

Annual corporate membership is $250 and allows up to 7 people to attend per meeting from that company.

BIO :

Oracle ACE Director Daniel Morgan has more than 25 years’ experience working with Oracle products.

Dan wrote the Oracle curriculum for the University of Washington,  was the program’s primary instructor for 10 years.

Is the Morgan behind the MorgansLibrary.org website, and is currently the principal adviser to the Meta7 division ofSirius.

Dan began his IT career in the early 1970s with Fortran IV on mainframes,  spent more than a decade writing COBOL, and moved into relational databases in the mid-1980s focusing primarily on the Oracle database.  He brings to each engagement a wide range of industry experience including high-technology companies, e-Commerce, telecommunications, finance, aerospace, bio-medical, hospitality, retail, energy, manufacturing and distribution, travel and entertainment, as well as public sector. In addition to his work at the University of Washington, Dan’s academic credentials include teaching Oracle at Harvard University, guest lectures at the University of Oslo (Norway), University of Canterbury (New Zealand), Universidad Latina de Panama, and as an adviser to the outreach program at the University of California at Berkeley. Dan’s core competency is core database and data integration focusing on stability, security, and scalability. He began his Oracle career coding SQL and PL/SQL, after almost a decade moved into the development and operations DBA role, and over the years expanded his focus to include servers, storage, networking, and their relationship to both stable architecture and Root Cause Analysis. In addition to his work in the U.S., Dan has worked in Canada, Japan, Mexico, and Norway and has taught classes and seminars at conferences in 25 countries on four continents and at 49 user groups and organizations.

Experienced Professional with over twenty years business and technical experience in Information Technology encompassing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Application and System Integration for large implementations across multiple platforms and operating systems, Technical Project Management, Team Building and Mentoring, Business Analysis, System Analysis, Software and System Design, and prototyping. Have experience in banking, credit card payment processing, check processing, using various database and middleware software (Oracle, DB/2, Sybase, Microsoft, Tibco, MQ Series, and Sybase middleware), C and C++, WebSphere ESB and am certified as a GoldenGate Associate for transactional replication. Have the skills needed to facilitate integrating applications with and porting applications to multiple platforms.
