Present at an OOUG Meeting! The OOUG strives to bring quality presentations of interest to Oracle developers and administrators to each of the 4 general meetings. We would like to encourage professionals to consider delivering a talk at one of the meetings. We describe our expectations here so that you may consider your options. Professional DevelopmentPresenting at an OOUG meeting is a good way to become known throughout the local Ohio Oracle community. It is also a good way to practice a particular presentation or overall presentation skills in a low-key environment. Perhaps you have a goal to present at IOUG? Get valuable feedback on your presentation by rehearsing it at an OOUG meeting! Individuals who present at on OOUG meeting receive free OOUG membership for the year, so sign-up early! What to ExpectMost presentations given at OOUG general meetings last from 45 minutes to an hour. Speakers generally bring a Microsoft PowerPoint-based presentation. We have an overhead projection unit to illuminate the slides on a large screen for the attendees viewing convenience. Most speakers bring their own PCs, but we may be able to arrange for a "loaner" PC if that is necessary. In the event that a loaner PC is requested the presentation must be transmitted to the OOUG the week before the meeting to correct any software incompatibility problems. Once the presentation has been given at the OOUG meeting, we will post it on the OOUG website so our members can refer back to the material. For those individuals who travel to us from outside of our membership area, for whom an OOUG membership will be useless, travel and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed by OOUG. We will be happy to assist out-of-towners with reserving transportation and/or accommodations and with directions to key locations. How to VolunteerIf you've decided you'd like to speak during an OOUG general meeting please contact a member of the OOUG board. Note that our definition of a speaker is someone who wishes to share information of interest to Oracle developers and administrators, who are not doing so primarily in order to promote a product or service. Note: Those interested in presenting at an OOUG meeting in order to promote a product or service may wish to contact the OOUG President to negotiate a sponsorship and communicate their presentation proposal.
