We are very excited to announce our guest speaker Rich Niemiec, TEC. Rich Niemiec is a world renowned Oracle Tuning Expert. Rich is an Oracle Ace Director and was the CEO and a co-founder of TUSC, a Chicago-based systems integrator of Oracle-based business solutions started in 1988.

Preparing for the Future of IT
This presentation will cover Technology’s Acceleration and the Cycles of Innovation in the world.  We’ll then look at the current Acceleration of the Cloud, the Big Data Revolution and some of the Big Data Solutions out there including Oracle’s Big Data Solution.  We will review the role that both Google and Facebook have played in the Big Data Ecosystem and also how other NoSQL databases like Cassandra and MongoDB fit in.  We’ll then look at the Internet of Things (IOT) which will drive Big Data and the Cloud even Faster.  Lastly, we’ll touch upon what’s coming now, robotics, and what’s a coming next, implant.

Bio :

Rich Niemiec is a world renowned Innovation Futures & Oracle Tuning Expert. Rich is an Oracle Ace Director and was the CEO and a co-founder of TUSC, a Chicago-based systems integrator of Oracle-based business solutions started in 1988. Rich is a past President of the International Oracle Users Group (IOUG) and the current President of the Midwest Oracle Users Group (MOUG). Rich has served as President of Rolta TUSC and President of Rolta EICT as well as an Executive Advisor to the Board. TUSC was the Oracle Partner of the Year in 2002, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010 (Rolta TUSC), & 2011 (Rolta). Rich is one of six originally honored worldwide Oracle Certified Masters. In 2015, he authored Quick Start Guide to Oracle Query Tuning for DBAs & Developers. In 2012, he authored the #1 Oracle bestseller “Oracle11g Release 2 Performance Tuning Tips & Techniques,” an update of his previous 3 Oracle best sellers on Oracle8i, Oracle9i, and Oracle10g Performance Tuning. Rich was inducted into the Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame in 1998. Rich is a graduate of Purdue University and awarded as Outstanding Electrical Engineer.

Abstract :
Creating Your First Database to Access with Oracle’s DBaaS (DataBase as a Service)
This presentation will show the steps to create a Database in the Oracle Cloud using Oracle’s Database Cloud Service or DBaaS (DataBase as a Service).  It will give the brief steps as well as showing how to use the free test service.  We’ll also see different methods for testing in the cloud as well as the different uses for the Cloud initially and eventually.
